In addition to raising awareness about bladder facts, start practicing and talking about habits for a healthy bladder, like the ones below from the National Institute on Aging.1
- Drink water
- Limit alcohol and caffeine
- Quit smoking (or don’t start)
- Avoid constipation
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Exercise regularly
- Do pelvic floor muscle (Kegel) exercises
- Use the bathroom often and when needed
- Fully empty the bladder when urinating
- Keep the urethra clean
