This September marked one year since we launched our Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) division. It’s been an exciting and busy first year! We have loved getting to know this specialty and have been working hard to develop new devices that help make minimally invasive procedures more efficient and effective.
This year, our OHNS team worked with our consulting physicians to develop new tools for sialendoscopy, the minimally invasive treatment of salivary stones and other blockages. Our Urology division has more than 35 years of experience in kidney stone management, so it made perfect sense for us to develop tools to support this procedure.
The lesson we’ve learned in developing this new division is one we’ve seen so many times at Cook before; when physicians don’t have the right tools for the job, we can collaborate to solve the problem together and great things can happen for patients.
This is the story of how it all began.
