Cook Medical Incorporated Promotes Dan Sirota to Vice President, Interventional Radiology

Bloomington, Ind. – Dan Sirota, who has served as global business leader for Cook Medical’s Interventional Radiology division since its inception in 2009, has been promoted to vice president of that business unit, the company said today. As vice president, Sirota will continue his global responsibility for the sales and marketing, product development, financial performance and general management of Cook’s product lines for interventional radiology (IR), including venous access, interventional oncology, embolisation and other product areas in the United States and abroad.

‘Dan’s been a leader within the Cook organization for more than 20 years, and his strategic guidance has helped make the launch of Cook’s Interventional Radiology division a successful business initiative,’ said Pete Yonkman, executive vice president, Strategic Business Units for Cook Medical. ‘IR was where the Cook organisation got its start, and having someone with Dan’s passion for excellence and commitment to outstanding customer relations leading that division will be key to its ongoing growth and success globally.’

Sirota started at Cook as a Critical Care sales representative in 1987. While a sales representative, Dan also acted as product manager for the northern Pacific Rim, doing business primarily in Japan and Korea. In 2000, he moved in-house at Cook’s global headquarters as the Critical Care marketing manager. Dan then transitioned to the Peripheral Intervention division in 2004, where he quickly became a senior product manager overseeing products that would eventually become the Interventional Radiology product line. In January of 2009, Dan was asked to lead the newly launched Interventional Radiology business unit.

‘I’ve been given many challenges during my time with Cook, and I’ve been excited to embrace every new opportunity given me,’ Sirota said. ‘I will continue to support the outstanding work of our global team as we strive to bring the benefits of Cook IR technologies to the world’s clinicians and the patients who depend on these products for superior outcomes.’

Sirota, who lives in Bloomington, Ind., with his wife and children, earned his M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University and his undergraduate degree from Indiana University Bloomington (B.S., 1987).

Cook’s Interventional Radiology division is dedicated to advancing the field of interventional radiology through significant investments in the development of new medical devices and technologies, which will empower and enable interventional radiologists to improve patient outcomes with skills and procedures best performed in interventional radiology labs. As part of an ongoing effort to expand its comprehensive offering of diagnostic and interventional devices, Cook’s Interventional Radiology division brings a new level of dedication and focus to the field of interventional radiology, which Cook has strongly supported since its inception in the 1960s. IR has been at the forefront of the movement towards image-guided, minimally invasive medical procedures.
