For the 40th anniversary of Interventional ERCP, we worked with Dr Peter Cotton to develop a special edition of The Channel ‘40 Years of Interventional ERCP: Stories from the Pioneers. Dr Cotton set out on a quest to interview many of the key ERCP pioneers from the early and mid -1970s and received so much insight from our these interviewees that we needed to split the edition into two volumes. The first volume, which can be read online, included Dr Cotton’s interviews with Meinhard Classen, Michel Cremer, Joseph Geenen, Kees Huibregtse, Aksel Kruse, Keichi Kawai and Masatsugu Nakajima as well as Dr Bernard Laurence’s interview of Dr. Cotton himself.
Today, it can be difficult to remember what the world of pancreatic and biliary medicine was like in the 70s. These interviews give us a glimpse into what these physicians encountered, how they shaped and influenced Interventional ERCP, and how far ERCP has come over the years.
If you haven’t looked at the first volume be sure to check it out! The next volume of The Channel’s ‘40 Years of Interventional ERCP: Stories from the Pioneers Volume 2 is out later this week. Sign up here!
